Dayspring Speaking Topics Presented by Art Daglow


 


For over 30 years, Art has been called upon to speak to diverse groups of people at a local and state level as well as at a national level. In the first quarter of 2004, Art has enjoyed being a workshop speaker for the 9 th year in a row at the Grand Rapids Christian Parenting Conference, has talked to a MOPS group of mothers at a Bible church, and has talked to 1 st graders through 6 th graders and teachers at a Christian school on the subject of Tourette’s Syndrome and our response as Christians to those who experience and exhibit special needs.

Art has been a speaker since the early 1980’s at the NACSW’s (N. American Assoc. of Christian in Social Work) annual conventions in Oakland, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Dallas, Grand Rapids, and Philadelphia. Art has spoken to over 100 churches, Christian camps, and faith based ministries on a wide range of topics that focuses attention to growing our Christian marriages and families. He has spoken to organizations of helping professionals such as TOMCA ( Top of Michigan Children’s Agencies), FOCUS ( a group of mental health professionals dedicated to promoting better services for developmental disorders and addictions) and the Michigan Foster Parent Association.

In 2003, Art had the opportunity to be the primary speaker at Eagle Village near Reed City to 200 adoptive parents and their children as well as a similar gathering last summer in Ionia that was sponsored by PASS (Post Adoption Support Services). In 2002, Art and his wife, LeAnne, who does MBTI profiles ( Meir-Briggs Type Indicator) for Spring Arbor University, lead workshops for over 200 foster parents from all over Indiana that was sponsored by White’s Family Services of Wabash, Indiana.

Art has enjoyed leading marriage enrichment weekends at Portage Lake Covenant Bible Camp and at President’s Inn in Grand Rapids. He enjoys talking to pastors, Christian educators and leaders to design and customize speaking presentations that uniquely address the concerns and hopes of each individual church or group.

The Importance of Family Rituals and Traditions
This presentation focuses on the importance of each family establishing their own special ways of recognizing and celebrating life with their children as well as ways of creating positive and lasting family values that fosters security and a sense of belonging.
Facilitating and Leading Marriage Enrichment Weekends
Each weekend experience is individually designed and developed with churches and other Christian groups to promote stronger, healthier Christian marriages. This marriage and family therapist leads the weekend experience of small groups of couples into a fun and meaningful time that "rekindles the flame".
Why the Violence?
This workshop looks at the alarming and disturbing events within our culture in the last few years that have painfully been shown to us in living color, as we watch our TV's in horror witnessing events like Columbine and well publicized serial shootings that show young people resorting to unthinkable forms of violence on others as well as themselves. We look at what we as parents and as a community can be doing to prevent tragic circumstances like Columbine from happening in our homes and communities.
The Family of His, Hers and Ours
This is a workshop designed to assist and help blended families be successful as we explore and look at the immediate challenges facing moms and dads that in most cases are working very hard to foster and bring two families into a solid, unified, "one".
Teaching and Modeling Forgiveness to Our Kids!
This workshop explores the importance of knowing how to apply the Biblical model of forgiveness into the lives of their kids. Healing and reconciling family conflicts and fractures will be impossible without knowing how to implement this principle and action step with humility and sincerity.
Leaving a Living Legacy to Our Children, Loving Our Mate Well
Most of us have heard the expression that "apples don't fall far from the tree". We as parents hopefully are well aware that our kids will learn more by what we do that what we say. In this workshop,m we look at practical applications that are important to model as parents if we are to pass down a heritage thte "acts justly, loves mercy, and walks humble with our God.
What are the Support Systems or Safety Nets in Your Family?
Here we evaluate and explore what family backups we have when times are at their toughest. We look at practical suggestions the presenter makes to all in attendance as to how they will know to seek counsel, support and encouragement when times are tough.
The Makings of a Strong Resilient Family
The presenter gives important information on documented research that spells out the factors that must be in play within each family for us to be confident tht we are focusing on the really important aspects of growing a family. Group discussion and questions and answers follow Mr. Daglow's opening comments.

Get Thee Behind Me is a special workshop to help individuals who want to overcome a sexual addiction. I have presented this workshop to mixed groups (couples, parents, concerned relatives, and concerned individuals) and men's groups at their respective churches and at Christian camps.

This is a workshop designed for parents that promotes the significance of play in the growth and development of our kids. This is an active "hands on" workshop experience for every parent.

This presenter has developed special presentations for parents as well as helping professionals and church ministry personnel on ways to effectively work with kids who present unique challenges, such as the ADD kid, the ODD kid (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) or the emotionally impaired kid who is causing not only mom and dad to pull out their hair but teachers and administrators at their school as well.
